Dr Michelle Yap graduated with Honours from the University of Melbourne Dental School. Following graduation, she commenced her professional career at The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne, where she gained invaluable experience in the management of medically compromised patients while working alongside leading medical and dental specialists. During this time, Dr Yap further developed her skills in oral surgery and dental trauma and published a research paper in the Australian Dental Journal.
While based in Melbourne, Dr Yap also worked in a general private suburban practice. In 2014, after falling in love with Tasmania’s lifestyle during a holiday, she made the move to Hobart and has been part of the practice ever since. Her friendly, caring, and thorough approach to dentistry has seen her establish herself as a trusted clinician within the local community, with many individuals and families choosing her as their regular dentist.
Dr Yap is deeply committed to lifelong learning and continuing professional development to ensure her patients receive the highest standard of contemporary dental care. She has completed extensive postgraduate training, including a Postgraduate Diploma in Orthodontics and Dento-facial Orthopaedics (2021), a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Orthodontics (2023), and a Postgraduate Diploma in Aesthetic and Restorative Dentistry (2025).
She holds clinical privileges at both Hobart Day Surgery and St John’s Hospital and is qualified to provide dental treatment under general anaesthesia at these facilities.
Outside of dentistry, Dr Yap is an avid foodie and enjoys travelling, as well as relaxing at home watching Netflix with her family.
